Space Art

For a while I spent a lot of time trying to paint space scenes. Mostly these were with acrylic paints but sometimes colored pencil or airbrush used. I talked to quite a few people and got some useful tips. (See my How to Paint Space Art pages.)

Planet

This is supposed to be a mostly arid planet with a few seas of water collected in meteor craters. Most of it was painted with acrylics using regular brush techniques. The nebula behind was added using an airbrush to better show off the dark side of the planet.

Exploding Star Cluster

To add some drama I painted what is supposed to be an exploding star cluster. I don't know what is making it explode but that is the job of a story teller.

Asteroid, Comet, and Star

This is a combination of regular acrylic painting for the asteroid and both brush and airbrush for the comet.

Gas Giant Planet and Nebula

This image was generated completely electronically using a program similar to PhotoShop called Painter.

Want to try some of this yourself? Try my web pages where I describe a few of the techniques I used. (How to Paint Space Art)
